Special Congratulations to:
*First Place Poet ~ Stephanie Roberts*
Stephanie Roberts is our first place poet. In 2018, she had work featured or forthcoming in over four dozen periodicals and anthologies. A 2018 Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee, she was born in Central America, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and is a longtime resident of Quebec, Canada. A recent manuscript finalist for the Two Sylvias Press Wilder Poetry prize, her previous publications include Verse Daily, Atlanta Review, Reunion: The Dallas Review, Crannog Magazine, great weather for MEDIA, and Occulum. She will be a BoxSet Series featured poet with Oxidant/Engine in 2019.
*Second Place Poet ~ Paul Brooke*
Paul Brooke, our second place poet, has three full-length collections of photography and poetry including Light and Matter: Poems and Photographs of Iowa and Meditations on Egrets: Poems and Photographs of Sanibel Island. Sirens and Seriemas: Photographs and Poems of the Amazon and Pantanal was published by Brambleby Books of London, England. His latest book, Arm Wrestling at the Iowa State Fair, was released in 2018 from Finishing Line Press. Recently, he completed a residency in Iceland and a sabbatical in Brazil, where he worked on a new book entitled Panthera Onca: Jaguars of the Northern Pantanal. Brooke teaches Creative Writing and Literature at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.
*Third Place Poet ~ Carrie Close*
Carrie Close, our third place poet, was born and raised in central Maine, where she is currently attending the University of Maine at Farmington for Creative Writing and French. After graduating she hopes to work as a teacher’s assistant at a French university, before returning to the states to pursue an M.F.A in Creative Writing. She has previously been published in KYSO Flash, The Halcyone Literary Review, and Miracle Monocle.
